Laboratory Introduction
Paolo Piersanti is an Assistant Professor in the School of Science and Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the City University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Emeritus Professor Philippe G. Ciarlet, focusing on the mathematical justification of dimensionally reduced models for linearly elastic shells with obstacles. Prior to his current position, he was a Zorn Postdoctoral Fellow at Indiana University Bloomington, working with Distinguished Professor Roger M. Temam on problems in Mathematical Biology and Climate Change Dynamics. His research interests span Applied Functional Analysis, Partial Differential Equations, Differential Geometry, Numerical Analysis, Calculus of Variations, Mathematical Elasticity, and applications in Mathematical Biology and Glaciology.
Position
Post Doc Fellow
The appointment is for two years. The position comes without teaching duties. The earliest starting date for this position is January 1, 2026.
Job Description
Applicants should have:
1. A Ph.D. degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or any closely related field;
2. Experience and skills in Evolutionary Partial Differential Equations, Nonlinear Analysis, Mathematical Modelling;
3. Fluency in spoken and written English.
Job Duties include:
1. Carrying out research on models in Mathematical Glaciology.
2. Contribute to the supervision of PhD students.
Salary and Fringe Benefits
Salary will be comparable to international standards, commensurate with experience and accomplishments. Appointments will be made under the establishment of CUHK-Shenzhen, and employee benefits will be provided according to the relevant labor laws of Mainland China as well as CUHK-Shenzhen regulations.
