The recruited member will be working with Prof Hao, Haiyan in School of Humanities and Social Science. Prof. Hao’s research focuses on leveraging advanced analytics and computational approaches to empower human communities in addressing a wide range of social and environmental challenges, such as technological disruptions and extreme events, with the goal of contributing to smart and resilient urban development.

Job Description

The Urban Resilience & AI (URAI) Lab, led by Dr. Haiyan Hao at CUHK-Shenzhen, seeks a self-motivated Research Assistant (RA) to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of urban resilience, artificial intelligence, and data analytics. The successful candidate will primarily support Dr. Hao’s NSFC Youth Scholar Project (#72404236) and assist with the 1+1+1 CUHK-CUHK(SZ)-GDST Joint Collaboration Fund – Urban Intelligence and Analytics Young Scholar Project.

Applicants should have:

1. Proficiency in Python;

2. Experiences in urban or data analytics, geo-simulation, GIS, and other related fields;

3. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Job Duties include:

1. Developing and maintain a social sensing database for urban crisis events;

2. Conducting data analysis and run computational experiments under supervision;

3. Assisting in organizing activities, such as workshops and training sessions;

4. Supporting ad-hoc research tasks as needed.

 

Salary and Fringe Benefits

Salary will be comparable to international standards, commensurate with experience and accomplishments. Appointments will be made under CUHK-Shenzhen, and employee benefits will be provided according to the relevant labor laws of Mainland China as well as CUHK-Shenzhen regulations.
