The Deputy Director of the Career Development Office is a strategic and dynamic leader responsible for overseeing the comprehensive career development of both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students. This role demands a forward-thinking approach to designing, implementing, and evaluating a wide array of programs and services that include career exploration, internship placement, job search strategies, graduate school planning, and professional skills development. The Deputy Director will manage daily team operations and collaborate closely with CPDO, employer partners, and the alumni office to ensure a smooth and impactful career journey for all students.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Directly supervise, mentor, and evaluate the SDS CDO team; promote a collaborative, data-driven, and student-oriented culture within the CDO team and beyond - inside and outside the school - to improve overall operational efficiency.

2. Oversee the SDS career services portfolio and manage third-party services, including but not limited to one-on-one consultations, workshops, career fairs, networking events, and on-campus recruiting.

3. Engage stakeholders and develop partnerships by collaborating with faculty, alumni, and employers to embed career readiness and create opportunities.

4. Generate comprehensive analytics reports from advising feedback, employment data, and further-study results to inform the school's senior management about students' overall educational experiences.

5. Represent the CDO at university-wide events and on relevant committees.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

1. At least 10 years of progressive experience working with university students, including a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role.

2. Demonstrated expertise in student coaching theory and practice for both undergraduate and graduate students.

3. Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

4. Strong ability to build relationships and collaborate with a wide range of constituents, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and employers.

5. Experience with data analysis and assessment to inform strategic decisions and report on outcomes.

 

Salary and Benefits

Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointments will be made under the establishment of CUHK-SZ and statutory benefits will be provided according to the prevailing labor laws applicable in the PRC. The appointee will be based at the University campus in Shenzhen, PRC.
