Notice on the Application for 2024 Guangdong Province Basic and Applied Basic Research Fund (Guangdong-Huizhou, Guangdong-Dongguan, Guangdong-Foshan Joint Funds) Projects
The application process for the 2024 Guangdong Province Basic and Applied Basic Research Fund Provincial?and Municipal?Joint Fund (Guangdong-Huizhou, Guangdong-Dongguan, Guangdong-Foshan?Joint Funds) projects has commenced. The requirements are as follows:

I. Project Types and Conditions
This year, the provincial-municipal joint funds are divided into two categories: Key projects for Guangdong-Huizhou, Guangdong-Dongguan, Guangdong-Foshan, and Cultivation projects in the Foshan region (in the field of innovation management science).
(I) Key Projects
- Applicants must hold a doctoral degree or have a senior or above professional title.
- Applicants should be full-time or dual-employed personnel of the host institution.
- Applicants must have led national or provincial science and technology plan projects (including those responsible for national key R&D plan topics, National Natural Science Foundation projects, provincial fund projects) or prefecture-level key research projects.
- The funding intensity for each project is 1 million yuan, with a research period of generally 3 years.
- Collaboration with at least one host institution in Foshan/Huizhou/Dongguan is required for joint application.
- Please refer to Annexes 1, 2, and 3 for other requirements.
(II) Cultivation Projects in the Foshan Region (in the Field of Innovation Management Science)
- Applicants must hold a doctoral degree or have a senior or above professional title.
- Applicants should be full-time personnel of the host institution.
- Within the past three years (starting from January 1, 2022), applicants must have participated in the research and formulation of scientific and technological innovation plans, policies, evaluations, etc.
- The funding intensity for each project is 300,000 yuan, with an implementation period of generally 3 years.
- Please refer to Annex 4 for other requirements.

II. Application Requirements
(I) Project Limits
- There is no limit on the number of projects that a host institution can apply for under the provincial-municipal joint funds (including Guangdong-Foshan, Guangdong-Dongguan, and Guangdong-Huizhou joint funds, the same below). Each applicant can only apply for one provincial-municipal joint fund project in 2024, and the total number of provincial fund projects that an applicant can apply for and be involved in is limited to two.
- Each applicant can be supported for a maximum of one project under the provincial funds (including the Provincial Natural Science Fund and provincial joint funds) in 2024. Applicants who have already secured funding for a Provincial Natural Science Fund project in 2024 are not eligible to apply.
- Applicants who are currently leading three provincial science and technology plan projects (special projects, funds, etc.) (excluding platform projects such as provincial laboratories and provincial key laboratories, inclusive policy projects, and post-subsidy projects) or who have already submitted applications for two provincial science and technology plan (special projects, funds, etc.) projects in 2024 are not eligible to apply.
- Applicants who have one provincial science and technology plan (special projects, funds, etc.) project that has not been evaluated within one year of its completion (excluding platform projects, inclusive policy projects, and post-subsidy projects) are not eligible to apply.
- Applicants who are currently leading provincial key research and development plan projects, major provincial basic and applied basic research projects, key provincial fund projects, major basic research cultivation projects, or research team projects are not eligible to apply.
(II) Collaboration Requirements
- Apart from the lead host institution, there should generally be no more than two participating institutions.
- The lead host institution and participating institutions should sign a collaboration agreement before submitting the application, clarifying fund allocation, ownership of results, etc. The signed collaboration agreement (scanned copy with seal) should be uploaded to the online application system. The lead institution shall, in principle, be allocated the largest share of provincial financial funds.
- If the project participants include personnel (including graduate students) from outside the host institution, their affiliated institutions within China shall be considered as participating institutions and should be listed in the application. Foreign personnel (non-Hong Kong/Macau personnel) generally participate in the project application as individuals and must upload an electronic scanned copy of the "Informed Consent Form for Foreign Personnel" to the online application system. Hong Kong and Macau personnel can participate in the project application as individuals or through cooperating research institutions.
(III) Other Requirements
- The project start date is uniformly set as January 1, 2025.
- If the project involves issues related to research ethics and technological security (such as biosafety, information security, etc.), the corresponding materials and forms should be provided in accordance with the university's ethical and biosafety review procedures, as outlined in Annex 6, and sent to the following email addresses by January 5, 2025, for review and issuance of the corresponding certificate:

III. Application Process
Applicants should log in to the Guangdong Science and Technology Business Management Sunshine Government Affairs Platform (http://pro.gdstc.gd.gov.cn/) after December 25, 2024, fill in the application online, upload the required annex materials (refer to Annex 5 for requirements on organizing annex materials), and submit online (teachers who do not have an account on this system should send their name, email address, and mobile number to?suliuting@cuhk.edu.cn?before December 27, 2024, to create an account). There is no need to print paper materials.

IV. Deadline
- By 17:00 on January 9, 2025, all applicants must upload all required annex materials and submit the application online. The university will conduct a review.
- By 12:00 on January 13, 2025, all applicants should submit the reviewed application online.
